NEXT STEPS: Public comment on the draft plan has closed as of August 29, 2024. We are finalizing the plan to be presented to the Planning Commission for review on October 9^th with anticipated adoption in November. From there, we anticipate sharing the adopted plan with City Council for approval as an amendment to the Lakewood Comprehensive Plan in December. The City of Lakewood is excited to announce that after a year of research and public engagement, the Connect. Discover. Create. Lakewood Public Art Plan is nearly complete! Now, we are looking for feedback on this visionary plan that will set the direction for public art over the coming decade. It articulates the vision, core concepts, and key strategies for enriching the public art experience for our residents and visitors. A special thank you to our Lakewood community for your continued support and enthusiasm for arts and culture in Lakewood.

Lakewood adopted its first Public Art Master Plan in 2013. Since fall of 2023, we have engaged with the community to update the plan and envision the future of the city’s public art program for the next 10 years. Over the last several months, we hosted community conversations and asked for input and feedback to help shape the future of public art in Lakewood.
