Wright Park today

The City of Lakewood and Stream Landscape Architecture have teamed up to develop a master plan to re-imagine Wright Park! Located at 500 Wright St., this 10-acre neighborhood park is located West of Union Boulevard and South of Sixth Avenue in Ward 1. This community space plays an important role in the neighborhood as it serves more than 2,000 residences within 1/4-mile of the park that have limited outdoor space or yards. The park currently provides ample open space, soft-surface trails and a small playground.

With input from the community and stakeholders, the city will develop a master site plan for the future of this special park to provide amenities desired by the neighborhood.

Thank you for your patience, we are anxious to get this project started! We are hoping construction can commence this fall. The permitting review took much longer than expected, and grant funds were awarded for the project, causing some delay with regards to Buy America requirements. We have finalized all of these changes and hope to have dates to share soon. To follow updates on the project, see the Project Timeline on the right hand side of the page.

Thank you, we have found the error and updated to 2024. We are hoping construction can commence later this summer or early fall. The permitting review took some time, and grant funds were awarded for the project, causing some delay. We are as anxious as the neighborhood to get started! • Share I live in Telluride West in a townhouse next to the path going down to Wright park. I see multiple people using this path to allow their dogs to relieve themselves, however they don't go all the way down to the park and instead use front lawn outside my door. Is it possible to consider a railing or re- align the path directing people away from the properties and add Pet Waste bag stations? I moved in thinking the park would be great for my pets, but I don't use this park due to the amount of large off leash dog use and pet waste everywhere. on Facebook Share I live in Telluride West in a townhouse next to the path going down to Wright park. Hi there,

This project will include a small neighborhood dog park to give those pups room to run in an enclosed space. Great suggestion!

Absolutely! We will record the virtual meeting and post it online on the project page for questions. We will also post a survey link so that you can participate and answer the same questions answered by those who attended the meeting. Check back Friday for this information.

Is community garden zoned for that space

BarbM asked over 2 years ago

Community gardens are allowed on park property in the City of Lakewood! The City utilizes Denver Urban Gardens to manage the community gardens in the city.
