February 2024 update: Intersection improvements are underway at South Wadsworth Boulevard, and Morrison Road. Learn my by visiting Lakewood.org/ConeZone.
Peak View Park opened July 7! Learn more about the park below and download the park map.
Project Background
In 2018, the City of Lakewood acquired approximately 60 acres of the "Taylor Estate" to be forever preserved as open space. This stunning property can be viewed from South Wadsworth Boulevard between Morrison Road and West Vassar Avenue. The acquisition of the property, 2350 South Wadsworth Boulevard, was completed with the help and generosity of Jefferson County Open Space.
Take a virtual tour of Peak View Park!
Project Details Intended to be a passive-use open space, the future Peak View Park will be a wonderful space to recreate and take in beautiful views. Park planning efforts were temporarily delayed to accommodate access to the site from Wadsworth. The consultant team for the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is working on traffic studies, environmental clearances and engineering for the addition of an access point off Wadsworth and Morrison Road at the northwest corner of the park. While the access and phase one (to include a hard surface trail and parking lot) is targeted for completion in 2023, the city launched a public engagement process to determine the future look and feel for the park in 2021.
Help Name the Park
Most importantly, we need your help selecting a name for this exceptional addition to Lakewood Parks! Use the survey tab below to submit the perfect name for the park by April 30. We will narrow submissions to three choices and create a poll for this page to determine the winning name by May 30. The person who submits the winning name will receive a 2021 annual pass to Bear Creek Lake Park. Peak View Park was selected by residents as the new name for this park for its views of Pikes Peak.
Learn more about the site from a birds-eye view of the Peak View Park in the video below.
All future improvements will create a welcoming experience for all visitors. Use the tools below to provide feedback on the project and share ideas. Subscribe to this page for project notifications when new information becomes available.
