Lakewood's Bear Creek Lake Park (BCLP) is a popular 2,624-acre regional park that provides a multitude of exciting recreational opportunities outside the back door of the Denver-metro area. Park visitors may choose activities including picnicking, camping, fishing, boating, horseback riding, windsurfing, bird watching, mountain or road biking, enjoying the swim beach or taking aim at the archery range. Most importantly, the mission of Bear Creek Lake Park is environmental education and stewardship of the park’s natural resources with many educational programs and experiences available for visitors of all ages and abilities.

Bear Creek Lake Park

Managed by the City of Lakewood, the park is beginning a master plan process that will include an assessment of park visitor needs, an evaluation of park and building infrastructure, and design work for future park improvements. These will be packaged into an implementable action plan to serve visitors for the next decade. The city hired DHM Design to lead the projected 18-month planning effort which will include an extensive public engagement process with park visitors and stakeholders.

    Stakeholders, park visitors, meeting attendees and over 2,000 survey responses have guided the development of design concepts for future improvements at the popular Bear Creek Lake Park. Thank you to everyone who participated and shared their love for this special park in Lakewood! The following design concepts are now available for public comment until Monday, September 2. Comments received will inform the development of the draft plan that will help the city prioritize funding and improvements at Bear Creek Lake Park.

    Enjoy a day at the beach or a ride on the trails at Lakewood’s Bear Creek Lake Park (BCLP)? Join staff and the consultant team on Wednesday, March 27 from 5:30 to 7 pm. to celebrate the community’s participation, review plan design concepts, and give input to shape the future of the popular regional park.

    The open house will be hosted at the BCLP Visitor’s Center, located 15600 W. Morrison Road, offering the opportunity to interact with staff and other park visitors, roast s’mores by the bonfire, and enter to win an annual pass to the park!
