I have a 500 sq ft back yard vegetable garden and am interested in sharing ideas and experience with other like minded people.

Can we have chickens?

In a past life I had access to fresh eggs and would love to figure out a way to have access again. Perhaps this could be something to consider; co-op could provide eggs = beneficial chicken manure for garden?

Free-roaming cats urinating and defecating in and on community garden produce

Per Animal Control on the Lakewood, Colorado website, "Cats are free-roaming and do not require a leash when outdoors." I live next to Jefferson Green Park and although our community has rules prohibiting unleashed cats or dogs on the property, these rules are not enforced for cat owners. On a daily basis, year round, "free-roaming" cats wander the neighborhood, including Jefferson Green Park, stopping anywhere and everywhere to urinate and defecate at their leisure. Cats don't care - they'll 'spray' your tomatoes, your greens or your pretty flowers, then poop on your pumpkin. Nothing is better than fresh food straight…
