Why are we talking about Parking & Related Infrastructure?
Parking standards support people using a site, and also affect traffic. Ideally, parking standards will ensure that new developments are designed to accommodate site occupants and visitors, while also providing the community with enhanced safety and amenities like pedestrian connections, bicycle parking and access to alternative forms of transportation.
Over the past few months we collected input on a range of related issues including the following:
- Examples of sites with sufficient and insufficient parking
- Benefits and impacts of sites with too much parking
- Importance of infrastructure for bike parking, electric vehicle charging stations, car share and other modes of alternative transportation
- Potential changes to parking requirements for various types of new development
