KimMcKinley asked over 1 year agoWe have not made any decisions around operations of the courts yet, and are likely looking to allow for a few courts to be reserved with the rest open first-come, first-served. Stay tuned to this page for updates.

Share Hello, I just read the following article on 9News.com and it raised concerns about the new courts being built at the Carmody Rec Center. I have participated in the community meetings in the past but did not realize that the noise from the courts could be a problem. Since we live adjacent to the park and directly face the courts, I am concerned that the noise could be a daily issue, esp. with the popularity of the sport growing so much. What is the city doing to address this issue? Has the city heard about the concerns in Denver and sought to incorporate noise mitigation? I would love to hear your feedback and what the city is doing in regards to noise at these new courts. Thanks so much, Karen Van Zweden P.S. I did send an email to CRinfo@Lakewood.org before I found the Ask a Question option. KVZ asked over 1 year agoThank you for reaching out regarding the Carmody Pickleball Courts. The topic of noise in the vicinity of pickleball courts is one Lakewood has been monitoring for some time and we were very proactive during the design of the new courts to address any potential concerns. In fact, noise is the reason we decided to close the courts at the Green Mountain Recreation Center a few years ago. We chose Carmody Park as an ideal location for new dedicated pickleball courts after an extensive public engagement process with the neighborhood because the distance from the nearest residence was over 350 feet and there is a parking lot and road in between the courts to help mitigate noise. Learn more at www.LakewoodTogether.org/Pickleball.
While Denver is citing 500 feet, nationally, 350 feet tends to be the benchmark for minimum distance to mitigate any noise disturbance. Lastly, we are constructing the fence and landscaping in such a way that it will be able to support additional noise canceling mechanisms if needed once the courts are in use. We look forward to opening these new courts this summer and appreciate you reaching out with your questions!

Robert Halligan asked about 2 years agoHi there,
We will be at the mercy of Mother Nature and the contractor's busy schedule as we head into fall. Ideally, the courts are open to use this year as a first phase, while final surfacing may not be complete. For a fully-completed project, we are anticipating early spring of 2023.

Share Pickleball at south SIMMs park needs a paddle holder. There are 20 plus people who play there regularly with no where to put the paddles. If you play you would understand. I am requesting to put one on the East fence next to the gang box. I have a picture of one being used at Whitlock. naturelovinggal asked over 3 years agoThank you for your comments. Given the acoustic issues at Green Mountain, we will provide fencing and have selected a court location at Carmody that is over 350 square feet from residential areas. We have heard several requests for shade and will include it in the project as funding allows. There are restrooms available nearby at both Carmody Recreation Center and Carmody Park.
