Fitness Court to be installed at Green Mountain Recreation
Share Fitness Court to be installed at Green Mountain Recreation on Facebook Share Fitness Court to be installed at Green Mountain Recreation on Twitter Share Fitness Court to be installed at Green Mountain Recreation on Linkedin Email Fitness Court to be installed at Green Mountain Recreation linkThe National Fitness Campaign (NFC) has awarded $25,000 to the City of Lakewood as part of a 2021 initiative in partnership with the Colorado Parks and Recreation Association (CPRA) to plan, build and fund healthy infrastructure. The City of Lakewood will install its newest quality of life addition outside Green Mountain Recreation Center, 13198 W. Green Mountain Dr., a sleek and modern outdoor Fitness Court® and multipurpose sport court with a supporting mobile app this summer.
The NFC grant program is designed to activate public spaces by connecting trails, well-placed pedestrian infrastructure and community meeting points with a central outdoor fitness facility — The Fitness Court® — that brings free, world-class fitness to everyone.
The new Fitness Court® at Green Mountain is the second open-air wellness center in Lakewood, following an installation in 2019 at Addenbrooke Park and checks the box on an Imagine Lakewood! master plan goal to increase affordable outdoor fitness opportunities. For adults of all ages, the Fitness Court® is adaptable for all fitness levels. New users can also download the free Fitness Court App — a coach-in-your-pocket style platform — that transforms the outdoor gym into a digitally supported wellness ecosystem. The Fitness Court App, entitled “Fitness Court”, is available for iOS and Android.

Green Mountain Courts Closure
Share Green Mountain Courts Closure on Facebook Share Green Mountain Courts Closure on Twitter Share Green Mountain Courts Closure on Linkedin Email Green Mountain Courts Closure linkThe outdoor Pickleball Courts at Green Mountain Recreation Center, 13198 West Green Mountain Drive, will close permanently on July 1, 2021. This location will be modified removing the pickleball striping. The tennis courts will also be restriped for tennis only. The courts were installed prior to the release of industry standards and best practices that require courts to be a minimum of 350 feet neighboring residential areas. Noise mitigation strategies have proven unsuccessful.
Four outdoor pickleball courts are currently available at Charles Whitlock Recreation Center, 1555 Dover St. In addition, six new outdoor pickleball courts are proposed for construction in early 2022 to Carmody Park.
