Morse Park Playground was completed in May 2022
The original "Lakewood Park," Morse Park, located at 8180 W. 20th Ave., is a lovely mature park that dates from before city incorporation.
Funding is now available to replace the outdated playground. The project team is seeking feedback on playground amenities residents would like to see at Morse Park. Please take the online survey below by May 20.
Based on the survey results, a draft plan for the playground will be posted on this page for feedback from residents. Playground improvements:
Meet the budget allocated for all work required including removing the existing equipment and installing new equipment and playground surface.
Provide play equipment that meets safety requirements established by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and the Handbook for Public Playground Safety.
Provide a variety of play structures and components encouraging activities inclusive of multiple age groups.
Meet current American with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements, replace existing rubber surfacing with a new, fully-accessible protective surface.
Lakewood secured funding through the federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. CDBG provides annual grants on a formula basis to states, cities and counties to develop viable urban communities. Visit Lakewood.org/CDBG to learn more.
