It was a great anniversary.

Thank you to everyone who joined in the celebrations of Lakewood's 50th!

It's time to celebrate 50 amazing years as a city! And while Lakewood's incorporation day was technically June 24, 2019, we’re celebrating with the community all year.

Lakewood's 50th Anniversary is a time to honor our community’s unique history, diverse residents, and those who laid the foundation for incorporation and paved the way for the city's sense of community, culture and inclusiveness. We’ll highlight the early families and visionary leaders, entrepreneurs, staff, volunteers, and of course, the residents who together create and strengthen the community fabric that is Lakewood.

Here’s to celebrating our city’s rich past and looking ahead to the next 50 years. We hope you take a look around and join the celebration by participating in all of the activities on this site:

Discover Lakewood's historic sites

Discover Lakewood and unfold the past as you travel through the community. You'll visit historic homes, farms, a restaurant (still in business 50 years later!), a cemetery and more. 

This historic scavenger hunt consists of nine different locations, each with its own clue. Solve the clue and visit the historic site. Once there, drag and drop the pin on the map, submit the name of the site and upload a photo proving that you've made it there. To receive a prize, you must submit a photo at the location. Use the comment box to tell us if you learned something or if you noticed anything interesting about the site. 

After you complete and post a photo from three, six, or all nine locations, please email kaigau@lakewood.org to receive your prize.

Discover Lakewood's Parks

over 5 years

Explore eight of Lakewood's parks after you solve the clue for each one and visit its location. You'll visit a park named after a former Tuskegee Airman, see a water-wise demonstration garden, test your skills in a game of ping-pong, stop by a community farm complete with a plant-eating dinosaur and more. 

This  scavenger hunt consists of at least one park in each of the city's five wards. Solve the clue and visit the park. Once there, drag and drop the pin on the map, submit the name of the park and upload a photo showing that you've made it there. To receive a prize, you must submit a photo you took while visiting the location. Use the comment box to tell us how much fun you had exploring or if you noticed anything interesting about the park! 

After you complete and post a photo from three, six, or all eight parks, please email kaigau@lakewood.org to receive your prize.
