This consultation has concluded. Thank you to over 6,000 participants of the Imagine Tomorrow! planning effort. Imagine Tomorrow! Arts, Parks and Recreation for All, was adopted by Lakewood City Council on May 22, 2023 with a focus on equity.
The City of Lakewood Department of Community Resources embarked on a year-long planning process to create a bold vision for the future of Lakewood’s arts, parks and recreation system. The Department worked with the planning firm, Logan Simpson, to engage the community, evaluate current and future trends in parks and cultural asset planning and determine future priorities. Ultimately, Imagine Tomorrow! Arts, parks and recreation for all, presents a compelling vision for arts and play in Lakewood that is supported by policy guidance in a user-friendly, implementable planning document.
The master planning process charts a course for the next decade of Lakewood’s investment and programming for parks, recreation and the arts. The plan addresses current challenges, determines strategies for meeting future demands and establishes priorities for achieving the community’s shared vision. The Imagine Tomorrow! Arts, Parks and Recreation for All master plan is available for review by the community until 5 p.m. on Monday, April 17. Review the plan, comment, and respond to others' comments.
In 2022, the Community Resources Department launched the Imagine Tomorrow! comprehensive master planning effort. The plan is intended as a guiding document to providing wonderful parks, recreation and arts experiences for Lakewood residents over the next 10 years. The draft plan reflects the guidance of the community as collected throughout the 14-month planning process. Thank you to over 6,000 community members who have participated so far.

In addition, an online survey was available to all residents. Survey data is also used to inform the Imagine Tomorrow! public meeting conversations and make comparisons to local and national trends.
